Our “In the Community” Program supports our members develop friendships and build healthy lifestyles in a safe and welcoming environment through community based activities.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop skills in a wide range of areas through activities like learning about horticulture at a community garden, hiking at a nature reserve and helping those less fortunate at a meal centre. Every class will have a designated facilitator who will be there to guide you and your fellow team mates through a range of skill-building activities.

Helping others is the way we help ourselves.

FAQ

  • There are so many! Not only can you make friends, learn something new, see different places and grow in confidence and independence, but your NDIS plan is goal-oriented, meaning that when you make use of your plan, you’re actively working towards something.  And when you feel supported, you can hit your goals out of the ballpark knowing you’ve got a whole team behind you to encourage and cheer you on!

  • Absolutely! We’ll have our team leader there to get you comfortable, confident and provide support to in a team but if you’d like to bring your own support that’s fine. Let us know any of your concerns when you register because it’s important that you are comfortable.

  • Generally, funding for the classes will be claimed from the ‘Community Participation’ budget of your NDIS plan and the cost factors in anything that you may need for the class (though we generally supply everything). That means no out of pocket expenses for you!
